Witchcraft on a Budget

Whaaaaat? You don't need to spend your whole paycheck on one spell? Absolutely not! In today's main stream it has become a rather disturbing idea that what you spend is what you get out of it. Maybe true for some things. This is not true for magick. You can dress your own candles, decorate your own box and create your own wand. The most powerful thing in magick is - YOU!
So you want to do some casting? You've got the spell but none of the ingredients. Say you need, candles, various herbs, feather, crystals, etc., and it's the end of the month. 😕 First, set a budget, then go see what treasures you can find.

Here's what you can do.
1) Hit the dollar store. They have candles, herbs and craft supplies. Even birthday candles work. Don't have a certain herb - use Rosemary! It's the universal magical substitution for any herb.
2) Craft stores. Yarn, candles, feathers, charms, stones, beads, so many things.
3) Your local grocery store or warehouse store. You can find so many herbs and salts there and don't forget the tea isle! So you have to rip open a tea bag to get to the herbs, it doesn't mean the herb is any less potent.
4) Second hand and junk stores. You can find all sorts of dishes to use to hold herbs and to use as a burner for incense. Wooden boxes, journals, material (old shirts and skirts - yes ma'am), you can even find crystals on occasion. So many wonderful thing's I've found over the years. Rule of thumb - cleanse any old item for left over energy before using in your magic. Burn some sage and drag the item through the smoke or place the item in salt for a few days.
5) Yard sales and flea markets. The treasures you will find.
6) Wild foraging. Just be careful you aren't on private land or you gain permission to forage. Find interesting flowers, feathers, seed pods, leaves, stones and sticks while on a walk. Go to the beach or mountains. It feels good to find what you need and helps ground you.
7) Grow your herbs. Yeah, it takes a while and not always practical, but rewarding.
8) Witch made mixes - If you trust the witch they are from, premade mixes for certain goals can be a life saver. Why buy 13 herbs, when someone has already created the mix for you? This isn't lazy of you - it's thrifty.
9) Visit your local religious shop - Yeah, I know - Weird - A witch in a religious shop! - Thing is they have some of the best charcoal discs and even resin incense. A lot of times it's less expensive then buying it online or at a metaphysical store.
10) Ask friends if they might have a certain item. They don't need to know what it's for. *wink*

Magick is all about the energy you put into it. You are the most powerful tool. Your intent is what sets everything into motion. The herbs, candles and everything else lend their energy to your will helping you achieve your goals.
The most important thing for you to remember is this - Magick is the will to manipulate energy into a desired goal. You got this! You can do it and do it well even on a budget!
That's it for now - go forward and create magick my lovelies!
