How do I clear my crystals?

Crystals absorb and store energy. Periodically they will need to be cleansed and re-charged. The more you use them for healing or protection the more often they will need to be cleaned of stagnate energy. Clearing your crystals is a very important step to do when you get a new one and don’t know how it’s been used previously or who has handled it.
First of all - KNOW YOUR STONE! There is a wonderful series of books called "The Crystal Bible" by Judy Hall. I believe there is 3 of them. SO worth picking up. Not only does she explain the metaphysical properties of the stones and crystals and how to use them but also ideas on how to cleanse them safely. Some stones like Amethyst and Citrine will bleach in the sun, selenite can be damaged by water. Soft stones you don't want to put in salt, because it may scratch them. Be careful with your crystals and learn as much as you can.

Here are some ideas on how to clean a working stone or crystal:
  • Bury the stone in the ground overnight. Be sure to mark the spot so you can find your stone again. Yes, you can use a flower pot.
  • Expose the crystal to moonlight, a full moon is best. Place them on a non-reactive plate if taking outside or lay them on the dirt. If that's not possible put them in a windowsill where they will get at least an hour of light.
  • Pass the crystal through sage, copal or dragon‘s blood smoke. You can mix the incense for an
    even more potent cleansing mix.
  • Place the crystal in running water, like a stream or ocean. Hold on to it tight. If there are no sources of water close, your sink faucet will work as a substitute for the moment.
  • Place the crystal in a bowl of salt for a day or two.
  • Use a slab of Selenite or Amethyst to recharge your stones. Lay them on the Selenite or Amethyst for a few days. No longer than 5 days. This will re-energize them and prepare them for working again.

Again, know your stone! Much depends on it. If in doubt, moonlight or sage is always the safest way.

Happy crystals make for a happy person.
